To the teacher: this tool is useful for young students to revise vocabulary on the body and clothes. Depending on the age of your group you may try different activities. Here are some ideas for you to include Avatar Maker in your lessons.
- First you need to become familiar with Avatar Maker. Please, check this tutorial.
Activity # 1.a ( Young learners)
First of all go to Avatar Maker . You don't need to create an account in order to start using it.
1) In this activity you will create your own avatar, so make sure you revise vocabulary on parts of the body and clothes.
- What does "wrinkles" mean?
- How many parts of the body can you remember?
- Ask your teacher if there's any word in the chart you don't know.
2) Just as it is clarified in the tutorial, create your own avatar.
3) Now you can download it and save it in your computer. Remember to name the file after you.
4) Open a word document and insert your Avatar image in a new file. Think of an appropriate name for your avatar and write it just below your image.
5) Once your avatar has a name, create his/her profile. Write down his/her personal information.
- Name. What's his/her name?
- Age. How old is he/she?
- Describe him/her physically: eyes, hair, etc.
- Clothes. What is she/he wearing?
- Likes and interests. What does she/he like doing?
Example:

She's ten years old.
Aldana has got long purple hair, small brown eyes and short legs.
She's wearing a white and red t-shirt and red shoes.
She likes playing the guitar. She's very funny"
Activity#1.b (Young learners)
1) As in activity #1.a, create your own Avatar, download it and name the file after you.
2) Now share your avatar with your classmate (you can send him/her the avatar by e mail, share it on a platform or print it and give your classmate the printed version)
3) Your classmate is going to describe your own Avatar and you are going to describe his/her avatar.
4) Share your descriptions. Do you agree with the description given?
Activity#2 (Elementary students - One step further)
1) Following instructions given in activity #1.a
2) Now think of a short story where your avatar is the main character.
- Include a presentation of the character.
- Present a conflict.
- How does the main character deal with the conflict?
- Give the story a suitable ending.
- Write around 200 words.
3) Share your story with the rest of the class.
Activity#2.b
1) Follow steps given in activity 2. a but create the story with a classmate.2) Make sure you include both avatars in the story.
Before writing think upon the following questions:
- Are your characters friends or foes?
- How do they get on with each other?
- Does their relationship change through the story?
Activity #3 - Beginners
1) Your teacher is going give you a thorough description on a sheet of paper. The description will include physical and personal features.2) Read the description in detail and create an Avatar that best reflects such description.
3) Download the avatar and save it in your computer. If you can, print it and share it with the whole class.
4) Compare avatars with different classmates. Do all the avatars look alike?
